Ranjana Ampithrite's Bengali poem 'Protisruti' translated into English:

তোমার সাথে আমার দেখা হবে না কফির টেবিলে।
দেখা হবে, বর্ষণমুখর দুপুরে কোন চিলেকোঠায়,
ফুটওভার ব্রীজে সন্ধ্যের গানে ,
নীলক্ষেতে বইয়ের গন্ধে, চারুকলা অথবা ছবির হাটে !
আনমনে একটা চুড়ি ভেঙে গেলে রক্ত সিঁদুরে ফোঁটায়,
সবুজ শাড়িতে কুঁচির শিথিলতায় ;
দাপুটে চুমুর ঝড়ো রাত্রিতে সমুদ্র জোয়ারে দেখা হবে।
দামাল হাওয়ার সাথে যেখানে নীলাম্বরের প্রেম ,
ঝিরিপথে শীতল জলজ আবেশ ,
সেখানে গহীন বনের পাহাড়ি বাঁকে দেখা হবে তক্ষকের অদ্ভুতুরে ডাকে!
যুগ সন্ধিক্ষণের কবি ,
তোমার যুদ্ধক্ষেত্রে অস্ত্রের খাপে ফুল ফোটাতে সঙ্গীনি রূপে আবার আমাদের দেখা হবে।

My pledge to thee

Instead of going along with you to the coffee house,
I might want to meet you in our garret
On a showery, drizzly late morning.
At dusk, we meet at a show to welcome
The fiddlers on a foot overbridge,

We drop in the bookshops at Nilkhet,
Next, we visit the Fine Arts gallery
To see the work of art and painting.
If I break a bangle unexpectedly,
Blood that dribbles fills in as vermillion,
My green sari crumples because of laxity.

We date on a squally night,
Squeezing each other's lips tight,
The sea too swells up at high tide.
We host a get-together at a place where
The gusty wind matches off the blue cloud,
The cold ambiance in the marine air.

We get to the hill twists in the forest,
Responding to the call of a winged serpent!
Poet, at this crossroads of a new era,
I will grow the flowers in your scabbard,
While you keep fighting in the battlefield,
I swear I shall go with you as a comrade.
