Triparna Chowdhury's Bengali poem translated into English:

কোনো কোনো দিন যায়
নস্টালজিয়ার আক্রমণে,,
শীতল মৃদু বাতাসে ভর করে উড়ে আসে শোক।
পাখির ডানায় লেপ্টে থাকা মনখারাপিরা আলতো করে ছুঁয়ে যায় চিবুক।
বোধন হয় তৃতীয় দৃষ্টির,,পর্যবেক্ষণে নজর কাড়ে আনকোরা প্রাত্যহিক সূচী।
আর এমনই সময়ে আগত পুজো,,কাশের হাওয়া,,,প্রতিপদের ধ্বনিতে ঘনিয়ে আসে শারদপঞ্জিকা।
হঠাৎই মেঘ ছিঁড়ে আসা এক চিলতে রোদ্দুরের দেখা পাওয়া যায়,,,অথচ চেয়েছিলাম আরেকটু সময় থাকতে বিষাদি সংগোপনে।
হাতে স্যালাইন,সূচালো ইনজেকশন আর ঔষধী ঘ্রাণে এক পা-দু পা পদক্ষেপ গোনার শুরু হয়তো,,
মনে শঙ্কা,,যদি এগিয়ে আসে মৃত্যু??যদি আরো একবার নেমে আসে পনেরো দিবসের অশৌচ?
অতএব সব চুপচাপ---নীরবতার অঙ্গীকারে.....

Pin drop Silence

On some days I am overburdened with nostalgic feelings,
The grief comes to me, resting on a mild breeze.
The depression mood smeared at the wings of the bird
Tenderly touches my chin.
The third eye raises attention
To the newest daily routine.

Exactly at this hour the 'Puja' and the 'Kash' come swaying,
With the sound of each footstep,
The autumn calendar closes in.
Suddenly a sunbeam squeaks through the cloud, while
I wanted to stay sad for some more moments by stealth.

I may need to start counting one-step two steps
With the saline solution, injection,
Sharp needle, and pharmaceutical spike,
Fear in mind as death approaches or falls again
The impure state of the two weeks.
So all keep quiet - promise to pay in silence.
