শহরের নিয়ন আলো আর পূর্নিমার শশী তোমার পথ চেয়ে রয়,
রাত কাটে না!
তীর্যক তোমার ছায়াসঙ্গী বৃষ্টিস্নাত...ভেবে নেই তুমিও বুঝি!
পিচ ভিজে যায়..তুমিও আর চিলেকোঠার কোনে আমিও।
মূল সরকের ঐ মাথা দেখার সাধ হয়!
পূর্নিমার চাঁদ ম্লান হয়...
গ্রামের সড়ক নিমেষে সেদিন শহুরে হয়...
মূল সড়কে একটি কোনে কাকভেজা তুমি,
শাড়ির আঁচল দুহাতে ধরে অপেক্ষাতে আমি।
ধাই ধাই সব বাস ধেয়ে যায়..
নিয়ন আলোয় আবছা আঁধারে.. ছায়াসঙ্গী আর কুকুর চলে তোমার পাশে
তারা সুখী সঙ্গী পেয়ে...
ম্লান চাঁদোয়া চিকচিক করে গহীন নয়নে,
আমার একান্ত চিলেকোঠা কোনে!

The neon light and the full moon of this city
Looking forward to seeing your entry,
The night is too long to pass,
Your friend in the shade is soaked with rain
I think rain splashes you too!

The road tar is soaked, you and me too!
Standing next to my attic
I want to see progress in the street!
The full moon becomes dim,
The village road turns out an urban road,
There on the edge of the main road,
You stay splashed like a raven
Here, I'm waiting for you, holding
The edge of my sari with both hands.

In a hurry, all the buses pass by,
In the faint neon light,
The dark silhouette and the dog
Move smartly by your side,
They are excited about
Being in a good company.
The canopy casts a shadow over
Their eyes and in the corner,
Next to my garret as well.
