ঈগলের দীর্ঘ ডানায় ছুঁয়ে যাই নীলিমা,
অবিশ্বাস্য ক্ষীপ্রতায় শিকার,
ক্লান্ত হলে নামি বৃক্ষচূড়ায়।
নিচে শুধু নামতে হয়
ছোট্ট ছানাপাখিটার জন্য!
যথেষ্ঠ আত্মনির্ভর ও।
তবু উড়তে শেখেনি ঈগলের ক্ষীপ্রতায়।
নির্মম শিকারী হয়ে ওঠেনি।
খুবলে নিতে শেখেনি লোভী চোখ।
রক্তাক্ত করতে শেখেনি হিংস্র নখরে।
এটুকু শিখলেই আমার ছুটি।
ঈগল হয়ে একদিন তো ও উড়বেই!
সেদিনের প্রতীক্ষায়.......

A Long Wait

Flying with the long wings of an eagle
I touch the blue sky with agility,
Being depleted I glide down to sit on a tree.
I only have to land for the egret.
To date, it has grown self-reliant,
Though without the skill of an eagle,
A long way from being a ruthless hunter,
It doesn’t have the eyes that can nibble,
Not yet, ready with claws to draw blood.
Let me spurn the egret while
It learns how to battle for itself.
One day, the egret must fly like a falcon,
Waiting for that day with anticipation.
