Ranjana Ampithrite's Bengali poem,"Shwapne paowa shobdera" translated into English:

একটি মৃত চড়ুই সৎকারের অপেক্ষায় কার্ণিশে ,
তার জন্য দূরে কোথাও বাজে না বিউগলের করুণ সুর ; এমনকি একটা ভাগাড় জোটেনি ভাগ্যে !
অথচ একদিন পাখিটি ছিল আশ্চর্য জীবন্ত , নীল আকাশের বুকে অবাধ উড্ডয়নরত ,
পড়ে থেকেই আজ প্রাণহীন পঁচাগলা নোংরা মাত্র !
স্রোতস্বিনী নদী কালচক্রে হারিয়েছে স্বভাবজাত উচ্ছ্বলতা ,
ক্ষ্যান্ত দিল সে কূল ছাপিয়ে যাওয়ার বাসনা , ধুঁকে ধুঁকে নির্জীব ,
লাল শালুকের লজ্জা দেওয়া টলটলে পুকুর নিজেই এমন লজ্জা পেলো !
দুরন্ত কিশোর ভুলেও ঝাঁপ দেয় না আর জলে ।
নগরের দূষিত বাতাসের মতো ভারী নিঃশ্বাস ,
ক্ষত্রিয় বংশ প্রসব করে চলেছে বিকলাঙ্গ যোদ্ধা , তাদের রাজ শুক্রাণুতে মিশে গেছে ক্লীবত্ব ,
ভ্রান্ত প্রজাপতি জড়ালো ষড়যন্ত্রের ফাঁদে , ফুলেরাও এখন বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করে !
আমরা বিলুপ্তির গল্প শুনেছিলাম , ম্যামথ কিংবা ডাইনোসর --
আমরা বিনাশের পথে এগুচ্ছি , মানবিকতা এবং ভালোবাসার ।

The words of a dream

A sparrow died on the ledge
Must be buried or burned,
No melancholy tune of a bugle
In its honor somewhere far away;
Even denied a carrion deposit,
While the bird was so bright,
It would fly freely in the air,
Now it is lifeless, nothing but
A dirty decomposed waste!
The torrential river lost its spontaneity,
Being weak, it abandons the ambition to overflow,
The red lily would bloom in the crystal clear water,
But now the pond blushes with shame.
Even the naughty boys do not jump
In the shallow dirty tank.
The polluted air of the town
Make breathing even tougher.
The warriors giving birth to crippled fighters,
The royal race has changed to impotent.
The butterfly trapped in the conspiracy,
Even the flowers have betrayed today!
We heard the stories of extinction,
The disappearance of mammoth or dinosaur.
We ourselves on the road to destruction,
Humanity, love or compassion.
