Pierced Love

Who has believed what he has heard,
To whom has the arm of the Lord;
That has been revealed in the Word,
But decided it be ignored.

Who has believed our report,
That He grew up like a young plant;
But their faith is a last resort,
And not go to church for to chant.

For like a root out of dry ground,
He had no form or majesty;
Or no beauty that would astound,
But draped in humbled modesty.

No beauty as to desire.
Rather He was despised by men;
A man that sorrows acquire,
Acquainted with grief now and then.

As the One from whom men will hide,
Their faces since He was despised;
No esteem for Him who has died,
Because the Pharisees chastised.

Surely, He has borne our griefs,
And has carried our sorrows;
Even though we have disbeliefs,
Gives hope for our tomorrows.

Yet we esteemed Him to stricken,
Smitten by God and afflicted;
So that the living will quicken,
That trespasses have convicted.

He was pierced for our sinning,
Crushed for our iniquities;
Transgressions since the beginning,
For all of our vanities.

The chastisement that brought us peace,
And with His wounds we have been healed;
Resurrection of the decease,
That everlasting life is revealed.

We are like sheep have gone astray,
The Lord gave Him all transgression;
To turn everyone His way,
If you offer your confession.
