Misplaced Trust in Wealth

Oh, hear this people who dwell here,
And give an ear on those who gather;
Times of trouble no need to fear,
Both the rich and the poor together.

No matter if you’re low or high,
My mouth and tongue shall speak wisdom;
My heart meditates to tell why,
That has been realized very seldom.

I shall lean my ear to a proverb,
And spread my dark song on the harp;
Why should I fear on every word,
When troubled times flows to the heart.

Iniquity from those who cheat,
And who are trusting in their wealth;
Embracing me around my feet,
Exposing they are in ill health.

Those who are trusting in their wealth,
Abundance of riches they boast;
Will fear of another through stealth,
For a ransom at the utmost.

No man can ransom another,
Give to God his life at a price;
By any means save his brother;
Of the cost that cannot suffice.

He should still live on forever,
Not see corruption from a pit;
The soul’s value will not sever,
From being spiritually fit.
