The yellowed pages of a book through which
someone pores.
The victories now begin. what is left for us
save in growth, where a pleasant life can be
lived.
Old letters bearing marks that trace the past.
Steal forth in the street and grocery store.
A smokers nervous fingers stained with yellow.
If I would wake up and glimpse the wonder,
and watch as the world goes past.

Old manuscripts and spiral notebooks of half
forgotten writings.
Earth breaks up; time slips away.
A song of sunshine across the snow.
My neighbors, good and bad, playing the part
they are cast.
Old pages of a treasured book that wrinkled
fingers turn.
The face of an enveloped bill, a symbol of alarm.
Lift up your heads sorrowfull ones, and please
take a look at the view.
