Burying Leaves

The ray of light is filtered through a guarded window.
The spirit of self sacrifice.
The autumn has lost her fairest blooms.
I see you stand among the snow drifts today.
Too old too talk.
To banish demons from a heart where searing
memories dwell.
I won't stay to count the price,
Faith must mount on a broken wing.
White curls aflutter.
The yellows painted by the snow,
burying leaves of autumn days.
Into the treasury of my shelves.
What does it matter if I laugh?
Nature ages through the years.
