The Word of the cross is folly,
To all those who are perishing;
But God’s power keeps us holy,
As His child He’s cherishing.

He’ll destroy wisdom of the wise,
Who is discerning He will thwart;
For the cheating and of their lies,
From the hardening of the heart.

Where is the one who’s ill-advised?
Where’s the disputer of this world?
The foolish wisdom who’s disguised,
The devil with insults hurled.

The world knows not God through wisdom,
It amused God through the folly;
Preach who believe in His Kingdom,
When this earth sees its finale.

Greeks seek wisdom, Jews demand signs,
We preach Christ who was crucified;
A stumbling block to Jews that maligns,
Folly to Greeks as falsified.

But unto them which have been called,
The power and wisdom of God;
The glory of Christ has enthralled,
Cause trusters to honor and laud.

God’s folly is wiser than man,
His weakness has much more power;
Wisdom that has devised a plan,
Set for each and every hour.
