Who has believed what you have heard,
The arm of the Lord been revealed;
About our report of the Word,
No longer has it been concealed.

He has grown up like a young plant,
Like a root out of the dry ground;
With no majesty to recant,
No beauty desired be found.

He was despised and rejected,
A person acquainted with grief;
We esteemed Him not perfected,
Hidden faces of disbelief.

He borne our grief and sorrow,
Yet God smitten and afflicted;
Stricken esteem of morrow,
A criminal as convicted.

He was pierced for the transgressions,
And crushed for the iniquities;
Chastised for peace through confessions,
To cleanse sinful deformities.

Like all sheep we have gone astray,
As the Lord has laid down His life;
Since everyone turned their own way,
Through iniquity causing strife.
