Guess I'm just flipp'en through the pages
Of a life I've lived this time~
And since I was noth'en but a lad
On the road in this country of mine~

Traveled , oh boy have I traveled
Worked , You believe me it's all true~
Seen yes and done so any things
I can honestly say more than a few~

Never afraid of work strike a blow
Or give any a helping hand~
Worked for love so very often
As I traveled that great land~

Never got some fancy education
Or spent life studying one bird
Or some renamed little flower
Or gave it a name most never heard~

But I was taught by life out there
Along life's longest hardest road~
And I can say so in all honesty
Almost all of them I've strode~

I've always had fantastic memory
Never forgot a single thing its true~
Never missed much along the way
Kept it all filed away as I'd always do~

Was never afraid to get involved
And help any soul along the way~
That simply was out numbered
By life's idiots dare I say~

Gave away my share of money over time
To those that were down and out~
Told em I'd see em up the road
Maybe they could give me a shout~

Never committed a crime in life
Because I know right from wrong~
I don't believe in all these excuses
Of that someone should write a song~

I've done things for others that many
Know I've done in life its true~
And speak of same in amazement
Saying .. God the likes of you~

Been overseas a several times
On a country loven trip or two~
To meet and listen to my favourites
As they do so well what they'd do~

Made ever so much money over time
And raised a family along the way~
Gave them all I had to give always
Ever dedicated on the day~

Now I'm flipp'en through the pages
Of a life I've lived each day so well ~
Given it all , all I had at any given time
With every stride too might I tell~

I've met lots out there just like me
A lot of them how well I knew~
All good honest jacks of all trades
Not afraid of work striking a blow~

I've sang my share of country songs
Written more than I can tell~
Written poetry since sixteen my way
Tried to ring more than just one bell~

I've painted landscapes in oil and water
Invented things that made real sense~
Saved many lives along the way believe me
Made real friends from fence to fence~

But after a lifetime of liven
And travel'en this planet grand~
I'm flipp'en through the pages
Of endless memories ever grand ~
