My heart does not have any pride,
Nor do I have a haughty look;
No great aspirations inside,
For writing a bestselling book,
For myself I have no concern,
About things that are beyond me;
Just want to be able to learn,
More about what I cannot see.
For I am composed and quiet,
Like being held as a child;
No wishes to start a riot,
Like snowflakes that have gone wild.
A child that is feeling content,
Remaining so quiet and calm;
Nothing that causes me torment,
While God holds me in His palm.
Hope in God now and forever,
As He has quieted my soul;
It is love that will not sever,
That helps me in reaching my goal.
My heart has not been lifted up,
My eyes are not raising too high;
As I drink coffee from my cup,
The place that I will occupy.
Surely, I must start to behave,
Putting all my trust in the Lord;
So, He rescues me from the grave,
Not to forsaken or ignored.
Things too marvelous and great,
I am unable to construe;
Anticipation to wait,
When I can bid the earth adieu.
But God has quieted my soul,
Like a child who is weaning;
Maturity to reach my goal,
On the Lord I will be leaning.
From this time forth hope that the Lord,
Will guide me the straight and narrow;
By remaining in one accord,
For reaching a new tomorrow.
