Have you ever asked an old gardener
What keeps their love alive~
What gives them more joy than a toy
How they have all they grow just thrive~
How they get their flowers to bloom so
And to give of fragrance dear~
How they do all the things they do
And why to a garden they are always near~
Have you ever asked an old gardener
How they get that special knack~
To plant something that's dying
And have it grow right back~
About that special communication
Between themselves and plants indeed~
And how that communication
Helps plants to grow with speed~
Have you ever asked an old gardener
Of their absolute thrill~
They get out of all they do
And do so till they die ... at will~
