When one has almost lived one's life
With many years to look back on true
It becomes ever harder not to remember
Endless better times unlike times now new

Not the planet one was born upon anymore
Simplicity and basics ruled our ever day
We did so well as many would tell long ago
We needed wanted less provided in our way

With values dear integrity kindness honesty
We respected others life and wisdoms too
Older ways in then old school days appreciated
Hard work and helping others in life all through

Fanatical religious and politics thinking were not
In the days of once simple basics then in life
All were satisfied with what they had back then
But greed always wanting more lead way to strife

Now when one is so much older and looking back
The woe many have has been of their own desire
If those now I suppose could go back once more
There'd be not as much self given fuel to fire
