Australia mate .. remember
How we used to be ~
Even about sixty years ago
Maybe four times ten and three~

Gone now a lot of old school Aussies
And chucked the best things out~
The old ways are really being tested
Many old ways now lost their clout~

Sure they are all are still Aussies
But one thing is for sure~
Australia's fastly losing it's identity
As if in some silent creeping war~

So many good old aussie traits
Have gone or are fading away~
Hard to find anyone at all that have
Australian born great grand parents today~

Ever so much of our Aussie slang
Has been now termed not so grand~
And since this political correctness
It/s a different space and land~

Freedom of speech now is a threat
You could end up in court for sure~
That old game spot the aussie mate
Don't get to see a lot in cities anymore~

Those good times we all used to know
Are all but slowly faded away~
For the days gone it's all changing
And more so every single day~

If one lied in court sometime
You'd be charged of an offence~
But politicians do it all the time
It all don't make a lot of sense~

It's punishing the worker all the time
Have the low earners tow the line~
Treat the hospitals with contempt
But they'll tell you all is fine~

The way all us Aussies once were
We were known for it all world wide~
Our integrity honesty and friendliness
As well as high values and Aussie pride~

But now I look around and I see
That all of that's gone by the way~
No substance in a handshake any more
Can not believe a lot now has to say~

I would go back tomorrow in a flash
To a time that I and many once knew~
When all fair dinkum Aussies were once
The way it was long ago true blue~

But its not the same not anymore
And for going back it is way too late~
What I would give to here back then
How Ya Go'en Mate ~
