Sinful Laments

I have become like summer fruit,
As to when the grapes have been gleaned;
No more clusters left that would suit,
None of them left that are uncleaned.

Woe is me for no first-ripe fig,
To satisfy my desire;
Anything small nothing that big,
For consumption to acquire.

The godly person has perished,
No one righteous among mankind;
Not one person left to cherish,
Our Lord who is humbly kind.

They all lie in wait for blood,
Hunting each other with a net;
Laughing at those drowning in mud,
Not having remorse or regret.

Their hands are considered evil,
Just as the judge will take a bribe;
They are working for the devil,
The Law not followed as prescribe.

The extraordinary man,
Utters his wicked desire;
Establish a devious plan,
For a diabolic fire.

Thus, they will weave it together,
The best of them like a brier;
Making plans where they would gather,
Each one a cheater and liar.

The most upright like a thorn hedge,
The day of your watchman is near;
For the judgment that God does pledge,
Of punishment evil will fear.

Commit no trust in a neighbor,
Have no confidence in a friend;
Guarding your work through your labor,
For being prepared to defend,

I will keep looking to the Lord,
Wait for the God of salvation;
I know my prayers are not ignored,
Accepting my invitation.
