A poet writes what he feels
About so very many things
A poet writes down what he sees
Understanding is what he brings

He paints landscapes with his words
Writes songs with what he has to say
He find the secrets within our souls
And lets them out to play

He brings a poets idea of how it is
And gives us love and joy in life
In his way he tells of the happy times
As well the hard times and the strife

His words they sound like music
As they often dance around and sway
and as they do their best to tell of
What a poet sees within a poets day

He has people to look at the little things
Like butterflies the flowers and the bees
Like the clouds above and the air we breath
Majestic mountains everything all the trees

He helps people to see all sorts of things
And in his way tries to set so many free
And if one wants to come right down to it
He often helps best he can the blind to see

A poet does so very many things
A poet feels he in life has to try
To leave as much of himself as he can
Before he fades away and thus to die.
