There are four things that are small,
But are exceedingly wise;
They do not falter or fall,
Without envy nor despise.

Ants are a people not strong,
But through summer store their food;
A colony they belong,
Not having an attitude.

Rock badgers are not mighty,
Yet they make their homes in cliffs;
Does not take life too lightly,
Not having quarrels or miffs.

Locusts do not have a king,
Yet all of them march in rank;
An army in which will bring,
Unison will not out-flank.

Lizards you can take in hand,
And a spider you can hold;
Yet as a king will demand,
They are thrown out in the cold.

There are three things that go well,
Four are comely in going;
Taking things in stride to dwell,
The pace that you tread slowing.

The lion strongest of beasts,
Turns not away for any;
Persevering for its feasts,
Ensuring to have plenty.

The strutting rooster and goat,
A king whose army follows;
Are like a log stays afloat,
As the river horse wallows.

Lauding yourself is stupid,
You are devising evil;
To the Lord it is vapid,
For eternal survival.

Pressing milk produces curds,
Pressing anger will cause strife;
Forcing a wrath from the words,
Might be destroying your life.
