Wounds have healed from a broken past,
only the scar remains,
My heart is finally wrapped at last,
with love instead of chains.

I was young and full of hope,
I thought I had it made.
It slowly became a downhill slope,
as hope began to fade.

Another love would come along,
and take away my pain.
I never knew my heart was wrong,
‘til she wrapped another chain.

I fought, cried, and fought some more,
I had to carry on.
Every queen I would adore,
crushed me like a pawn.

I finally broke the chains one day,
my life would take a turn.
I fought the battle all the way,
this lesson I would learn.

If I had never loved and lost,
the many years my life.
My battlefield I would not cross,
to a kingdom with my wife.
