Still stuck in that vicious moment
Decided to drop out
Become a shell of my former self
Needlessly devolving
Into a figment of a limited imagination
The shackles of dis-ease
Sad fate
Rejecting any hint of joy
Ensconced in a casket
Born of promise
Dead on arrival
Giving into any illusion
Just to survive
And protect myself
From anything that may cause pain
Any chance of happiness.

Let the jokesters and bullies
Have their way
Instead of knocking off
Their ill-gotten pedestal
A show of strength
Yet, I’m an unwilling partner
As I’ve made massive mistakes in judgement
Yet I’m not a mistake
I’ve been a witting pawn
Moved around the chess board
Instead of becoming the bird
That sores and intuitively finds
The place to land
Rest and truly prosper
Never forgetting the achievements
And successes
Confidently knowing
There are more
In the days to come.
