So much happiness and joy
It seems like a lifetime ago
As you feel trapped
In irrational and delusional machinations
For you can never repeat the experience
In the present tense
And that is ever depressing
So in hopes of confessing every sin imaginable
To warrant a clean slate
To begin again.

Yet you’re unable to be transported back
To your mother’s womb
Perhaps unwilling to accept this sacred principle
Is beyond mere mortals
If you want to suffer
Don’t have to look very far
If you desire peace
The same theory applies
But you will have to accept
It will take toil
Often the tiniest of steps.

You used to be patient
And I’m here to tell you
The joy you seek
Is more than possible
But it will not be as ecstatic
As experienced in the first act
But as steady as the hand
That has always been outstretched to you.
