Oblivious to the love that is there
Granted some of it may be conditional
And all the good things that have lasting value
Will have to be earned by sweat of brow
Patience
Determination
I’m not talking about the emptiness of illusions
The ego pursuit of material possessions
In hopes that one can brag
And look down their noses at others
But if hearts are full of hate
And days spent in overcompensating
For feeling like a dupe
A fraud deep down inside
Then it’s all style
And when the illusions are snatched away
What will they have to say?
More BS and false bravado
Or will they turn the page into humbleness?
And give their time not just for credit
Or a statue in the courtyard
Some say there are ones constitutional incapable of being
Empathetic and honest with others
I believe it’s the ultimate cop out.
