The Spirit of the Lord God,
Is upon me to appoint;
For the poor that have been flawed,
Bringing the Good News to anoint.

To heal the brokenhearted,
Proclaim freedom to captives;
Bring hope for the departed,
Eternal life that one lives.

Proclaim the year of the Lord,
Brings favor to those who mourn;
And the ones who have ignored,
Gives vengeance where they sojourn.

He grants who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a nice headdress;
Like the mane of a lion,
Glorified with the gladness.

Ancient ruins be rebuilt,
Repairing devastation;
Everyone free of guilt,
To the new generation.

Strangers stand and tend their flocks,
Foreigners plowing their field;
While the Lord gently walks,
Being well pleased with the yield.

You shall be priests of the Lord,
They speak of you as preachers;
For you are in one accord,
Of the Word as the teachers.

For your shame shall be double,
But enabled to rejoice;
Since God pulled you from rubble,
When summoned Him by your voice.

For the Lord does love justice,
And hates it when you do wrong;
Because you are so precious,
And wanting you to belong.

For your offspring shall be known,
Descendants amongst others;
As next in line for the throne,
Being as righteous brothers.

For as the earth starts to bloom,
From the garden that was sown;
That chases away the gloom,
Brings grace as God to condone.
