Sometimes you is all one has
Without the Good lord looking out for you
You wouldn’t want to consider the consequences
But too much time alone
Isolated
Will not only drive you stark crazy mad
But lead you down that dark path
Of ego and self-importance.

One can patient with all
The con artists and parasites
That surround you
It might be a knee jerk reacting to the past
Or it might be reality
Some refuse to accept
Perhaps, you’re just gun shy
The last remnants of awful PTSD.

Some get more of a chance
For admitting they’re human
Bringing goodwill and strength to the world
Others have outstayed their welcome
With overcompensating bluster
And have forgotten how to be humble
Or have never learned humility
Let alone the gracefulness of civility
And until the playing field is leveled
There will be only further retreat
And instead of looking at the complete picture
They only remark at the “cheap” appearance
While ignoring the rest
Or are you just like them?
Deluded with self-importance
Despite being “dressed up” differently?
