The Fleeting Nature of Life

I will guard my way,
So that I sin not;
My tongue not astray,
Of evil that is sought.

No poison from lips,
The tip of my tongue;
Of the vulgar sips,
That just might be flung.

I have become mute,
Silence to hold peace;
But others still refute,
Anger will not cease.

My distress grew worse,
My heart became hot;
As they start to curse,
The fury it brought.

When will it all end,
Measured of my days;
So many offend,
Of my righteous ways.

God has made my days,
A life of nothing;
Because mankind strays,
Unto God I cling.

For man goes about,
Being full of toil;
A shadow of doubt,
Mind in turmoil.

Man gathers up wealth,
Because of his lust;
No spiritual health,
God, he does not trust.

My hope is in God,
For I am no fool;
To honor and laud,
Letting Him to rule.

For He hears my prayer,
As He sees my tears;
Distress that I share,
He will calm my fears.
