I will not back down
Refuse to be muted
Nobility is not just a young man’s game
Unfortunately I have to tolerate your whims and wishes
That those of us on the other side of the hill
Should go gently into the twilight
For what gives you the right?
To judge my feelings?

In your narrow view
I have to sit there
Listen intently
Not breathe a word
You are foolish to believe
That somehow you’re a victim
Of conspiracy
The alleged misfortunes you speak about
Vague in code
Never come to fruition
It’s just a clever way of aligning
Yourself with the real victims.

You have the potential to go far
As you choose
But prefer to live in a state of illusion
Under the influence
But the tough bravado shtick
Is a myth
For you’ll never admit
That you’re terrified
Of being discovered
To hear the truth.

I never have set you up for failure
I won’t run like a child
Or tell tales to look innocent
Just to be in favor
I will not be your pushover
I have never claimed nor want to become
The prodigal son.

One day
You’ll be on the back nine
Between now and then
Get yourself right
Before trying to change me.
