Appearances deceiving
Consciously believing
There is a beating heart
And love buried underneath
The leaves upon toxic ground
Don’t make a sound
They may conclude you’re something
That you’re not
Trying to be like all the rest
And they’ll assess you’re just a blind sheep
And if there is nothing to say
But to expand an ego infested claptrap
In a poor attempt for one up man ship
Then it may time to retreat completely
And you can call it negative or cowardly
But I yearn for something deep
A true conversation
For if the calling was for something more
Saintly, endearing and compassionate
I’m not sure I’ve lived up to your promise
But to be a token
Or a pawn moved around
Listened to when convenient
Or to fill up a space
I’d rather be invisible
Than be a made up villain
A washed up sucker for the human race.
