Attacking it all wrong
Playing not to lose
Instead of to win
And some may ask
Why does it have to always be life and death?

Surely, you wouldn’t cop to being
Entangled in sin
Bereft
Empty
And all the illusions
Deemed a savior
Proved to be a phony guru
With a suitcase of cash always in hand
Leaving you with the hollowest of soul.

So don’t tell me to relax
Contrary to your prescribed beliefs
I’m not a nihilist
I want to live
Thrive
Not be showing off
Like an overcompensated braggart
But a quiet confidence
Lead by example
And if you refuse to accept that
I will matriculate to the ones
That are grateful for turning their lives around
Not be like I used to be
A liar
Thief
Addict
Slave to the underground.
