Baby bird mourns
A song a loneliness
The mother nowhere to be found
Heart reeling
Sadness debilitating
A wretched emptiness
Heart wrenching cry
For emotional abandonment.

Alone, detached from a heart of gold
A mind yearns for peace
A return to an unconditional love
That perhaps never existed
Struggling, trudging through
Waking up to late middle age
Bitter
Regretful
Slave to an illusion while
Ignoring the intuitive simplicity.

You may yearn for social harmony
Or place your head in the sand
Disgusted by the ongoing display of moral ineptitude
Or can be a conduit to change
The refusal to nag constantly
Inside your echo chamber
Straightjacket restlessness
As no longer hear the saddest song
Bastion of hope
The silent prayer
The little bird has been reunified.
