Watered down muse
Or so you believe
There’s nothing but old dressing down
Of veiled betrayal
To get the juices flowing
Blood boiling
Upon every slight and resentment
To raise ire to the surface
But anger can only become a millstone
Optimism becomes a crushing disappointment
And philosophies without experience
Are just lessons to teach a class
Of open and impressionable minds
So I have to remember
As I make my way across the landscape
Trying to find and embrace clarity
Against the purveyors of illusion
Who refuse to accept reality
While blinded by a vision of utopia
That will never exist.
