You have every right
To be whom you are
And the reverse holds true for me
But If I can forgive you
Lord, that ain’t easy
I have to forgive myself
And thus begin to live again
Not in perfection
Or in looking down my nose
Under some warped sense of superiority
But as a human being capable of success
As proved by the past
For mistakes don’t make the man.

Nauseating people pleasing principle
While ignoring my truest self
Basing my self-worth on comparing
To who and what is around me
Instead of the uniqueness
That surrounds the core
I won’t hit the bullseye every time
But it’s better than not trying
Declared a loser before playing the game.

Goal each day to achieve
Doesn’t have to be magnanimously epic
But it’s better than being stifled
By my own suffocating hands
For God has a plan for all of us
To be free
At peace
And in the arms of embracing happiness
There’s too much negativity flying around
And I was an indicted co conspirator
The hourglass extracting sand slowly
But I can’t wait until tomorrow to start living
I’ve wasted too much time agonizing
While gazing at myself
The question to ask
True to myself?
Or slave to the empty illusion?
I’m trying to be the former
While slowly disposing the latter
Down the drain.
