Sarah, the wife of Abraham In the book of Genesis, Sarah was the wife of Abraham and the mother of Issac. This heroine of faith gave birth to the Promised Child named Issac around the age of ninety. Even though she was close to one hundred, she received the Divine Promise from God about twenty-five years before her son was actually conceived. She remained faithful to his father and her husband Abraham in spite of being tempted to doubt the promise(s) spoken over her as well as the temptation to give into discouragement.
Sarah, whose original name was Sarai, was a heroine of faith. Her name actually means princess and this was confirmed in a message by Pastor Joel Osteen known as the Power of I Am back in the year 2012. He also confirmed that Sarah was looked down upon before giving birth to Issac because she did not yet have any children. Nonetheless, she remained faithful to God as well as the promise that she will have a baby in addition to staying loyal to the Father of Many Nations who was better known as Abraham.
Faithfulness is an example that Sarah has set when she was alive on this Earth and she died at a hundred twenty-seven years of age according to the book of Genesis. We can be faithful just like Sarah was faithful to God, His promises, and in her marriage to Abraham. Devotion is another example that we can follow as she was very devoted to her son Issac, who was the Promised Child according to Genesis and throughout Scripture.
Queen Esther, the cousin and adoptive daughter of Mordecai
Queen Esther was an orphan as both of her parents died and Mordecai adopted her as his daughter according to the Book of Esther, which has ten chapters. Her assignment and calling was to save the people of Israel, a country in Southwestern Asia. The Holy Book also reveals that her cousin and adoptive father Mordecai had instructed Queen Esther not to mention anything about her nationality and family background. Another revelation in the Book of Esther is that her father was Mordecai's uncle. This means that Queen Esther and her adoptive father Mordecai were actually first cousins. The Book of Esther also reveals that Queen Esther was highly favored by the King. In fact, the Book reveals that King Xerxes loved Queen Esther more than the other young women even though they were virgins.
Queen Esther was a very gracious heroine of faith and Proverbs 11:16 a reveals that a gracious, or kindhearted woman gains respect. We can follow this example of grace and be as gracious to others. One way to extend this grace is by being kind and offering second chances. Even though His name is not mentioned in the Book of Esther, the grace of God was definitely with Esther as well as the Israelites just like His gracious kindness is still with the Israelites today.
