I feel stuck
Uncomfortable in skin
The villains always seem
To pull it out at the end
Never taken to task
Until it’s time to meet their maker
But only blind and deaf witnesses
Attend the execution
And though my stubbornness
And wall of stone
Is a shield against pain of rejection
I’ve often made exceptions
When the spirit moves me
And the intangibles inspire
And though I could craft
A sensible intellectual retort
The lies would be obvious
As the mouth speaks.

Wish I could say
It was a pleasure meeting you
But I would be a hypocrite
Pleading the fifth
When inundated with phoniness
And the complacency of obligation
For my mind would be tormented
With questions about your dubious character.
