Fiercely protective
Steadfastly loyal
I lean on you
Not just in times of crisis
I’m not here to use and abuse
Or only shout your glory
Cause it looks wonderful on a printed page
Or to be a budding star
Interviewed by a fraudulent sage created
Upon the technological soundstage.

Sometimes, I fail to say thanks
With a sense of passion
Without a deep meaningful gratitude
The attitude can be spotty and insincere
You aren’t expecting perfection
But are adamant that opportunity is taken
When presented
Without strings attached.

Not expecting me to only
Preach to the choir
But to challenge
Cajole
Console
And be complete without relying on the illusions
Of man-made deceit
To find relief
Sense of purpose in compassion
Simple act of kindness
Not to simply recite a verse
Passage on demands
While playing a con man
When the spotlight is extinguished
For all I want is to deepen my relationship with you
Humanity
Infinitely fallible
But into the vacuum
Of securing serenity
And peace in this world.
