I’m not gonna descend
To the lowest common denominator
I would hope that you have
The wherewithal to conclude
I’m just a clever con man
Properly quaffed and cultivated
Fraudulent to the nth degree.

Bromides
The clichés fly
To bring real change
Is there compassion in my heart?
Or just a lust for power?
To be idolized and admired
Or shall I put my life on the line?
Fighting to the death for by beliefs?

Nothing is ever free
I hope you internalize that fact
When you’re inundated with promises
That you can be self-actualized
Without doing a damn thing
DaYou must realize that while
The short term is dizzyingly tempting
You will be paying for it
In the long run
And honest answers will be revealed
When the questions are pointed and deep
I pray you’re able to decipher
The real and the counterfeit.
