I go back a long way in life
Born in nineteen forty two
Written poetry since sixteen
Since my whole life through
I remember words Aussie slang
Everyone back then they knew
But along came academics and
Within the wind away they flew
Old words like oozywatzits and
Bring in that oozywatzits do
And thingymatite as well once
I've lost my thingymatite too
When your at the shop get me
A watchamecallit if you would
If they've a few get them too
I got to sharpen axe for wood
Many oldest word never heard
Australia built with them true
Gone by the way Aussie slang today
I still miss all so today I really do
