Blue jeans
The generation of the nineties.
Charismatic, authentic.
Free from everything.
Yet, yearning for a new world.
The 90s generation.
Halls, pop music, lambada.
The thrills of the moment.
Explosions of the self, of feeling.
90s generation.
Fertile imagination.
Reflections of the 60s and 70s.
Children scattered about.
Time passes.
90s generation.
Vibrant, strong, sensitive.
Not forgetting the attire—
And, from the closets where they were kept,
Dusty old blue jeans.
Handwritten on August 5, 1990.
Today I transcribe this for the sites #Etastic and #Seavien.
With affection, I dedicate this to my children—masterpieces of a co-authorship involving God, my husband Edu, and myself. They are: my firstborn Alexia Cristina (27), Emmanuel (25), and my youngest, Anna Clara (23)—a cultural producer currently studying at UFF Rio das Ostras.
My children are free, though I do offer them advice.
I offer this to the writers of AJEB, REBRA, LITERARE, and LITERARTE, and I must always say: whatever the regime, whoever is elected president of Brazil on October 25, 2026, we women cannot remain silent. We must always remember that we were created as helpers, and remember Great Women—like Esther, Mary Magdalene (whom they long portrayed as a prostitute, though they later retracted that), and Mary herself, who bore Christ for us.
