An Explication of An Ode by Mr. Keats

During the Industrial Revolution, Mr. John Keats wrote an "Ode To A Nightingale" and he had used figurative language in order to contribute to the overall effect of the poem by suggesting that time is very limited. In other words, the theme of the lyric is that we are not always going to be here. Thus, his tone is melancholic and his mood is sad. He knows that his life is like a mist and so is that of his family's, friends, and everyone else. Indeed, the following explication will identify the rhetorical devices and how these are actually context clues to the basic meaning of the ode at large.Of course, repetition and imagery are among these standards of literary techniques. In particular, there is perfect rhyme in all eight dizains. An example of this complete pattern include but are not limited to pains and drains in lines one as well as three. There is also alliteration, such as happy and its derivative happiness in the sixth verse plus this is an illustrative of consonance since the two related words begin with the same consonant. Similarly, there is assonance that is embodied by "ancient" and "and" in verse line 64 due to the fact that both of these common morphemes start with the same vowel.
In addition to this echoic verbiage, there are tropes in this masterpiece. The primary case in point involves the simile "The word is like a bell" in the seventy-first line of poetry. Moreover, there is personification in the dependent clause "Where beauty cannot keep her lustrous eyes (29)." Likewise, there is the phrase "And mid-May's eldest child" and this is really a representation of a metaphor (48). Surely, the lyricist had been painting a picture of the bird and his songs via the vivid descriptions in the text.
Undoubtedly, this metrical composition is a standard of situational irony for multiple reasons. First, only male nightingales sing so the versifier is addressing a cock - the male of the birds. Therefore, the conversation would be between the same gender whenever this man addressed this cock. Conversely, the dialogue would be between two opposite sexes if the male bird were to address the female bird especially since mating is one reason why these dinosaur descendants sing. On the other hand, the cock will sing to members of his own sex in order to defend his territory.
In summary, these stylistic elements provide context clues to the key point of the lyric poem. The gist is that none of us are going to be around forever. Because of the brevity of life, we don't have time to get distracted by petty things and we need to focus on what really matters. Nor do we have time to get involved in everyone's business. Still, You have given us just enough time to complete the assignments that You have given us to complete and these is the lesson that we can all learn from this apostrophe.....
