My father gave me his name. I'll honor it always.
I value my bequest. I'm known as, Val, today.
I was the oldest child; expected to lead the way.
I often wanted childishness. I'd really rather play.
I chose to follow paths that carried me away.
I grew apart in distance. But, I've come home, today!
The years have given substance to truths that others quote.
""To age is often wisdom.""
It tempered dad. I note!
My love for him has grown throughout the passing years.
I feel peace, warmth, and joy, that dries up earlier tears.
My dad has gone to rest until we meet again.
And when we do, I, like all of you,
will be my father's friend.
